During the course of his initial travels, Fergal meets his new friend, Dan, encounters the enigmatic laughing trout, (who enjoy being tickled) and has several mini-adventures, which culminate in the dramatic climax of his rescue attempt, in the tunnels beneath the bog. Illustrated with ten full-color pictures and a three dimensional map, showing the route of Fergal?s quest, the book will appeal to children between the ages of six and ten years.

The story has a warm and engaging appeal, which manages to highlight family values and keeps violence to an absolute minimum, whilst introducing humorous moments to lighten the tale.
